RedHawks defeat Explorers and take fourth win in a row – InForum

FARGO – Fargo-Moorhead started with a four-run second inning and the RedHawks went from there, extending their winning streak to four games with an 8-3 victory over Sioux City on Tuesday before a crowd of 2,746 at Newman Outdoor Field.

Trailing 1-0 with two outs in the second inning, FM’s Marcus Chiu was hit by a pitch and advanced to third base on Kona Quiggle’s single. Chiu scored and Quiggle advanced to third on an error. Sam Dexter brought Quiggle home with a single, Evan Alexander followed with an RBI double and he scored on Ismael Alcantara’s run-scoring single to make it 4-1.

The RedHawks made it 5-1 in the fifth inning when Alexander singled to lead off the game and advanced to second base on Alcantara’s groundout. Peter Brookshaw followed with an RBI single.

The RedHawks scored another run in the sixth inning when Chiu came on first with a double, reached third base on Quiggle’s ground out and scored on Dexter’s sacrifice fly, giving the RedHawks a 6-1 lead.

The Explorers scored twice in the seventh inning on RBI singles by Scott Ota and John Nogowski, but FM got both runs back in the second half of the inning.

Alcantara went to first, stole second base and scored on Brookshaw’s single. Brookshaw took second base on a wild pitch and later scored on Chiu’s double.

RedHawks starter Tyler Grauer went six innings to get the win. He allowed one run on three hits, managed three walks and three strikeouts. Relievers Kolby Kiser and Garrett Alexander got the RedHawks through the seventh and eighth innings, and Alex DuBord came on in the ninth. He allowed two hits but managed one of his two strikeouts to end the game.

The RedHawks and Explorers will play the third game of their four-game series on Wednesday, July 10 at 7:02 p.m. at Newman Outdoor Field.
