Sha’Carri Richardson was caught training with Christian Coleman after abandoning his longtime coach for not participating in the Paris Olympics

It seems like a whirlwind romance that began at the 2023 World Championships is set to blossom with the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Sha’Carri Richardson’s blistering speed that earned her a ticket to Paris seems to be inspiring her rumored boyfriend Christian Coleman.

Track Spice reported on X that “Christian Coleman was spotted training with Dennis Mitchell at his Star Athletics Track Club based in Montverde, Florida, along with his girlfriend Sha’carri Richardson.” Coleman’s official coach, Tim Hall, has been with him since college and the duo has built and enjoyed successful careers.

Hall played a major role in making Coleman one of the fastest men in history. At 28 years old, Coleman has a stunning personal best of 9.76 seconds in the 100m, making him the sixth fastest man in history. Coleman holds the world record in the 60m with a time of 6.34 seconds and has quite an impressive track record, including multiple NCAA titles, the 2019 world 100m title and two world 60m championships (2018 and 2024), as well as many world relay championship medals. But despite all these accolades, things have not been going well recently.

Christian Coleman’s dreams of running the 100 and 200 meters at the Paris Olympics were dashed at the U.S. Olympic Trials, despite running the fastest times in the qualifying rounds. In addition, Coleman has not improved his times since 2019, nor has he won an international 100-meter medal during that time.

This has led some track and field fans to believe it might be time for a change in his coaching approach. After all, even the fastest man can use a fresh perspective sometimes. With the Paris Olympics just around the corner and a love story unfolding on the track, all eyes will be on Coleman to see if training alongside Richardson – and perhaps a new coaching approach – can get him back to the top.
