City of Athens hosts free life-saving seminar for citizens

City of Athens hosts free life-saving seminar for citizens

The city of Athens recently announced a free life-saving seminar The aim is to provide adults with the necessary knowledge to deal with emergency situations and save lives. Safety at sea takes priority.

At Saturday, July 13 from 10 am to 1 pm the seminar entitled “Basic principles of first aid and lifesaving/water safety” will take place at the Serafio Swimming Pool (160 Piraeus Avenue). This event is organized by the Department of Preventive Medicine, Health Promotion and Public Health of the municipality.

In the seminar, adults will be trained in the recognition of water hazards, basic medical care in an emergency, First aid techniquessafe methods of entering the water, approaching people needing assistance, and appropriate techniques for rescue and transport.

The initiative is supported by the Cultural, Sports and Youth Organization of the Municipality of Athens (OPANDA) and Lifeguard Hellas, a training company specializing in lifeguards. Interested participants can register by phone. 210-2015510 (Extension 119 and 123).

Participants interested in the pool practice session should bring Swimming equipmentincluding swimsuit, towel, swimming cap, bathing shoes and optional swimming goggles.
