Donating school supplies for Evansville

EVANSVILLE – Community members who want to help students get back to school have the opportunity to donate school supplies at all local Walmart Supercenters on Friday and Saturday.

The donation boxes and shopping lists with the required items are available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Walmart, 335 S. Red Bank Road
  • Walmart, 401 N. Burkhardt Road
  • Walmart, 8599 High Pointe Drive, Newburgh
  • Walmart, 1115 American Way, Boonville

Donations will help the Salvation with its annual “Stuff the Bus” school supply drive, which benefits schools in Vanderburgh and Warrick counties.

“Stuff the Bus changes lives. From the smallest pencil to the thickest notebook, these school supplies are making a real difference in the lives of children in Southwest Indiana,” said Cpt Brandon Lewis, Corps Officer/Coordinator for Southwest Indiana. “We are so grateful to our partners in the mission who make this possible.”

When can community members get supplies for their children?

The fundraiser will take place on July 19th from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Salvation Army, 1040 N. Fulton Ave. Donations will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Families must bring proof of Vanderburgh or Warrick County residency, their children, and their school supply list.

According to the Salvation Army, leftover supplies will be donated to Warrick County CASA for distribution through the Teacher Closet program.
