Adrian Wilson arrested for minor domestic violence

The Panthers announced on Sunday that their Adrian Wilson The partnership ended after barely a year, and more information has come to light about why the NFC South team cut ties with the veteran front office executive.

Wilson was arrested on June 1 at 6 a.m. ET on three counts of domestic violence, The Athletic’s Joe Person and Doug Haller report. Police arrested Wilson at his Scottsdale, Arizona, home on charges of assault, criminal damage and disturbing the peace. All three charges are misdemeanors (subscription required). His next court date is July 16.

A GM candidate who ended his tenure with the Cardinals as interim GM, after Steve KeimWilson served as the Panthers’ vice president of player personnel in late 2022. Although Carolina changed GMs this offseason, Wilson’s departure appears to be due to that arrest rather than that offseason move.

When asked if the team was aware of Wilson’s arrest, a Panthers spokesperson (via Person) referred to their original statement on the matter. It seems likely that the arrest led to Wilson’s departure from Carolina. The club had hired the former Cardinals safety turned manager in February 2023. Wilson, 44, is from High Point, NC.

The Cardinals employed Wilson for eight years, and the longtime starting DB rose through the ranks to serve as VP of Pro Scouting at Arizona until 2021. Wilson came Quentin Harris as co-interim GMs to finish the 2022 season and interviewed for Arizona’s GM job, but Monti Ossenfort got the job last year. The Jaguars had Wilson in mind for a high-level front-office job in 2022, but that deal fell through.
