Press release from Lexington Legends

Lexington, KY – The Lexington Legends had a tough outing against the High Point Rockers today, losing 5-0 in Truist Point.

High Point opened the game with a first-inning lead and extended it with a four-run rally in the second to clinch the game, put Lexington out of the game early, and allowed the Legends just two hits all game: a first-inning single by Matt Botcher and a seventh-inning double by Brady Whalen.

High Point’s offense was led by Ben Aklinski, who hit a three-run home run in the second inning to add to his impressive season stats. Aklinski’s home run was his 14th of the season and added to his 52 RBIs so far.

Legends pitcher Justin Miller allowed five runs (four earned) and struck out two in four innings, and despite solid relief efforts from Nic Laio, Jett Lodes and Nick Gardewine, who combined for four scoreless innings and five strikeouts, the deficit was too big to overcome.

High Points Starting pitcher Cam Bedrosian showed his dominance on the mound, holding the Legends scoreless for eight innings, allowing just two hits and striking out eight batters. Bedrosian’s stellar performance earned him his fourth win of the season and lowered his ERA to an impressive 1.80.

The Legends’ record now stands at 0-3 entering the second half and they will look to rebound against High Point tomorrow at 12:05 p.m.
