AUSTIN — Sulphur Springs High School once again finished in the top 25 in the 4A Lone Star Cup, tying for 14th place with Aubrey High School.

The Lone Star Cup is awarded annually to six high schools, one for each class, based on team performance at district and state championships. The winning schools in each class receive the UIL Lone Star Cup trophy and a $1,000 scholarship.

Teams receive points in each sport and extracurricular activity based on their placement. Sulphur Springs and Aubrey tied for 14th place with 61 points each. Canyon Randall High School won the Class 4A Lone Star Cup with 117 points.

Sulphur Springs earned the most points in girls soccer and softball, scoring 10 points in each activity: 10 points in both sports to advance to the regional semifinals. The next highest scorers came from the marching band, State UIL Academics and boys soccer, which scored six points each.

Sulphur Springs High School also earned four points each in boys basketball, UIL district and UIL regional academic, three points in team tennis and two points each in volleyball, football, girls basketball and baseball.

This is the second consecutive year that Sulphur Springs has been among the top 25 4A schools in the Lone Star Cup standings, and they will look to continue that streak in the 2024–25 school year.
