GloRilla recently shared a direct message she received from Rihanna. In the DM, the “Diamonds” singer inquired about the release date of the rapper’s upcoming album.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, the “Yeah Glo!” singer posted a screenshot of the direct message. Rihanna’s message read: “You have all summer, sis! I know this is hypocritical, but when is the album coming out?”

Many fans expressed their approval online, noting the irony of the “S&M” singer asking about the release of an album by another artist when there was so much anticipation for new music from Rihanna herself.

The artist recently spoke about her own music in an interview, mentioning the possibility of her and ASAP Rocky’s sons featuring in her songs and her struggles to decide who will use which elements in their respective works. In another update, she shared details about R9.

This latest interaction is not the first between the two stars. Rihanna recently went viral when she posted a video of herself dancing with ASAP Rocky to GloRilla’s “TGIF.” She captioned the clip, “Happy Friday.”

“TGIF,” GloRilla’s latest single, was released on June 21. The song quickly went viral, especially among women in relationships, who humorously sing the lyrics about being single to their partners.

Rihanna also joined in on the trend, singing the lyrics to ASAP Rocky while dancing without regrets in the video. The singer’s post on GloRilla marks an unusual departure from her usual focus on her hair, skin and makeup brand Fenty Beauty.

Some fans praised the “All Dere” singer online for her long journey and admired her recognition from Rihanna.

As for an album by the artist, she released a mixtape earlier this year titled: Uhhhh, Uhhh, which functions her Trendy songs “Yeah Glo!” and “Wanna Be”.

The rapper recently performed both songs at the 2024 BET Awards. Watch her performance below.
