The opening hours of Kamper’s Rooftop Lounge are extended: It’s summer, and the hottest spot is a modern lounge on the roof of a historic building in downtown Detroit. Kamper’s in the Book Tower has extended its hours for the season and is now open Mon-Thurs 4 p.m. to midnight, Fri 3 p.m. to 1 a.m., Sat 12 noon to 1 a.m., and Sun 12 noon to 10 p.m. Reservations are available on Resy, but patio seating is first-come, first-served. 1265 Washington, 14th floor, Detroit. Grand Opening Party at Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken: The newest location of Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken will open in Roseville on Thursday. The first 100 guests can receive a free 2-piece brisket strip meal, and there will be other giveaways and prizes, including a chance to win free Lee’s for a year. Grand opening party at Turkish Village Restaurant: Although it only opened in the spring, this new downtown Dearborn restaurant is hosting a grand opening party on Thursday, July 11. Grand opening at Elephant & Co.: Midtown’s newest craft beer spot opens Saturday with 50 self-serve taps, Detroit-style pizza and dooped doughnuts. The 200-seat restaurant has a 100-seat patio and was formerly Founders Detroit. It will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on opening day, then daily after that. 456 Charlotte, Detroit. Grand opening party at Portillo’s Livonia: The second location of Chicago brand Portillo’s is preparing to open in Livonia, offering Italian beef sandwiches, hot dogs, shakes, chocolate cake and more. Tuesday’s grand opening party includes a 9 a.m. grand opening, followed by a presentation with charity partners Livonia Education Foundation and Breaking Barriers for Kids and Families, who will each receive a check for $5,000. Summer Beer Festival in Ypsilanti: A celebration of Michigan’s craft beer, cider and other beverage producers.
