Dallas native Sha’Carri Richardson has been one of the fastest women in the world for years, and now, as she approaches her first Olympic Games, she’s making a lasting impression in many ways.

On Tuesday, Fashion released their digital cover for August 2024 with Richardson at the center. Bent over before the start of a race, the 2023 World Champion stares intently at the viewer, ready for a fast start.

The shoot is part of Maya Singer’s profile of Richardson, an Olympic gold medal hopeful in the 100-meter dash with one of the most fascinating stories on Team USA. The interview focuses on Richardson’s preparations for the Olympic Games, where she is one of the favorites in a particular event.

Three years ago, Richardson was one of the favorites for the 100-meter title in Tokyo, but a positive test for THC – an indicator of marijuana use – disqualified her from the Games. In her interview with FashionRichardson puts it simply when asked about the 2021 disqualification.

“I’m not back, I’m better,” she says.
