Laika teams up with Phil Lord and Chris Miller for original live-action CRUMBLE — GeekTyrant

The animation studio Laika will produce a new original live-action film entitled Crumble with producers Phil Lord And Chris Miller (The LEGO Movie, Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse).

The screenplay for the film was written by Brian Duffield (Spontaneous, nobody will save you), who will also direct the film.

The film tells the story of “a married couple who embark on an adventurous journey around the world to find a cure for an ancient curse.” That’s all we know about the story, but it sounds like it could be a great adventure film.

Duffield said in a statement: “I will never forget how Coralline on opening night at AMC Burbank 16 and wondered who these wonderful new geniuses were.

“I can’t wait to make a film with them and hopefully live up to their standards. And I couldn’t be more excited to embark on a new adventure with my friends at Lord Miller.”

Matt LevinPresident of Live Action Films and Series at Laika, said in a statement: “We are so excited to be working with Brian and the entire team at Lord Miller on this special film.

“Brian has such a unique voice and Crumble perfectly embodies the bold, emotional and imaginative style of storytelling that we stand for at Laika.

“Lord Miller is in a class of his own and we couldn’t ask for a better creative team to bring this story to life.”

Laika, behind films such as Coraline, Paranorman and Kubo: The Brave Samurai, is now looking to enter the live-action business. This expansion already includes an upcoming adaptation of the action thriller novel Seventeen by John Brownlow.
