Who has the best French fries in Evansville?

Mmmm...French fries.

Mmmm…French fries.

EVANSVILLE − If there is one dish that is on the menu of almost every American restaurant – and many others as well – it is French fries.

Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, these salty treats are loved everywhere – whether thick or thin, curly or straight, breaded or not, plain or with toppings – fries are a culinary staple the world over.

They are sold at street stalls all over Belgium, hand-cut and deep-fried twice to make them as crispy as possible, and served with a variety of interesting sauces. In the Eastern Mediterranean, they are tucked into the bottom of a pita bread before falafel or other fillings are added. In New Orleans, you can order a French-fried po’boy sandwich with fries instead of meat as the filling. In India, they sprinkle them with hot spices and call them masala fries. The list is endless.

And Friday (get it, French Fries Day?), July 12th, is National French Fries Day.

Our question is, who do you think has the best French fries in the Evansville area? Do you like the thick, softer Russet fries from Five types? Or the labor-intensive, twice-fried, crispy fries from Damsel Brew Pub, Rafferty’s, Bad Randy’sor the Bodine’s Newsstand And Photo by: Loaded Fry Shack Trucks? Are you already a fan of the ultra-crispy and golden Chipperbec fries from the new Patsy Hartigan’s Irish Pub?

Maybe you are an old-school kid who loves the staple foods of MC Donalds or another fast food restaurant, like the waffle fries from Chick-fil-A or Curly Fries from Arby’s.

Here’s a poll to give your opinion on the best French fries in the area.

Vote as many times as you like. We’ll close the poll at 11:59 PM CDT on Friday (FRY DAY!) so you have time to take some samples.
