Rita makes her debut in the long-running series “Descendants,” which began with the original movie on Disney Channel in 2015.

The films are about the children of villains from classic Disney films who rebel against the evil machinations of their parents.

“The Rise Of Red” is a spin-off of the Descendants film trilogy in which Rita plays the mother of one of the film’s main characters.

The Queen of Hearts’ daughter, Red (Kylie Cantrall), teams up with Chloe (Baker), daughter of Cinderella and King (née Prince) Charming, to use the White Rabbit’s pocket watch to travel through time and prevent a coup in their fantasy kingdom.

The character Rita has appeared in numerous adaptations of Carroll’s Alice stories, but the best known versions come from Disney’s 1951 animated adaptation, Alice in Wonderland, voiced by Verna Felton.

The character was also brought to life in 2010 by Helena Bonham Carter in the live-action adaptation of “Alice in Wonderland” with her then partner Tim Burton.

The new Descendants film features another musical star: Brandy, who reprises her role from Disney’s TV musical adaptation of Cinderella, which aired on ABC in 1997.

Paolo Montalban, who played Prince Christopher in this version, returns to play a similar version of the character, King Charming.
