Record heatwave expected to ease this weekend

The record-breaking heat wave that has been ravaging the Antelope Valley and other parts of Los Angeles County for days is expected to continue Thursday, with temperatures reaching as high as 45 degrees.

On Wednesday, Lancaster and Palmdale narrowly missed their previous record of six consecutive days of temperatures above 109 degrees Fahrenheit (43 degrees Celsius), as temperatures in the two desert cities reached highs of around 108 degrees Fahrenheit (42 degrees Celsius), according to the National Weather Service.

However, temperatures of 45 degrees Celsius are expected in Lancaster on Thursday and 43 degrees Celsius in Palmdale, the NWS said.
