Previously, David Duchovny was best known for his role as Mulder in X-Fileshe wanted a completely different kind of role. He recently announced that he was auditioning for all three male lead roles in Full housewhich eventually went to Bob Saget, John Stamos and Dave Coulier. Obviously he didn’t get any of the roles and that changed the course of his career.

Duchovny said: “I auditioned for all three roles on Full house. First they had me, I think, for the father. And then they had me for the role of Stamos. And then they had me for the other guy. I thought, ‘I have to get one of those guys, it’s going to change my life.'”

“I had a lot of these pilot projects that I applied for when I first came to LA, and I thought any of them would be my opportunity,” he continued. “I just had to be able to pay my rent. That was important because I just wanted a job.”

Of course, at the beginning of his career, he didn’t realize what kind of acting he was good at. Today, Duchovny admits that he isn’t particularly good at sitcoms and that he wasn’t ready for the kind of “energetic performance they need.” A few years later, Duchovny had his big break in X-Files from 1993 to 2002 as well as the 2016 reboot series and two films.

He then played in Californication, Aquarius, Red Shoe Diaries, and more recently What happens later. Could you imagine him as one of the leading men? Full house?
