Washington Spirit announces plans for summer watch parties

Fans can see their favorite Spirit players at the Olympics this summer and the NWSL x LIGA MX Femenil Summer Cup at watch parties around the DMV.

Washington, DC (July 11, 2024) – The Washington Spirit will host a series of NWSL x LIGA MX Femenil Summer Cup and Olympic Games watch parties in the greater Washington, DC area this summer, the club announced today.

New this season, the Spirit has an official network of local bars where fans can gather for Spirit away games. This summer’s watch parties will be hosted by the club’s bar network partners. The Washington Spirit Bar Network currently consists of eight official partners in DC and Northern Virginia.

“We are excited to provide Spirit and USWNT fans with a place to come together and watch their favorite teams compete in these summer tournaments,” said RaShauna HamiltonSpirit’s Vice President of Community Development. “Last year’s World Cup watch parties were a huge success for this club and we look forward to building on that this year.”

The Spirit will travel to the NWSL’s inaugural Summer Cup with Mexico’s Liga MX Femenil, playing its first two group matches at Subaru Park near Philadelphia and its final group match at City Stadium in Richmond. During the time the Spirit is away from home, the club will provide official gathering places for fans to watch games and cheer on their favorite players.
