Fargo Public Library partners with North Dakota State Library for Scan Day – InForum

FARGO – The Fargo Public Library will host a scanning day on Thursday, July 18, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Dr. James Carlson Library, 2801 32nd Ave. S.

A library press release asked visitors to bring 10 to 15 personal documents, photos or items to scan, such as old photos, family recipes or letters from World War II. The scanned documents will be displayed online on the North Dakota State Library’s Digital Horizons.

According to the website, Digital Horizons is an online resource with thousands of images, documents, videos and oral histories depicting life on the Northern Plains.

The Fargo Public Library will also provide visitors with USB sticks containing copies of their documents and return the original documents to them, the press release said.

Interested participants can register for a time slot by contacting the Dr. James Carlson Library Information Desk at 701-476-5980. Space is limited at the event, so pre-registration is required.

For questions about library services or upcoming events, call 701-241-1492 or visit fargolibrary.org.

Our newsroom occasionally reports under the name “Staff.” The “Staff” name is often used when rewriting basic news briefs from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure that requires little or no reporting. Sometimes this name is used when a story has multiple authors or when the story consists of compiling previously reported news from various sources. When outside sources are used, this is noted in the story.
